Help Foster Youth Start the School Year with the School Supplies They Need To Keep Up in the Classroom
Ticket to Dream works to ensure foster kids enter the school year with the school supplies they need to keep up in the classroom. With over 250,000 school-aged children in foster care we need your help to bring back to school excitement to thousands of foster youth but we need your help!
The upcoming school year will look different, with less sharing of supplies, more online learning, masks, on top of other changes happening across the country. Foster youth students will not be able to borrow supplies from their peers, they'll need backpacks to cart their supplies between school and home, and when learning from their foster home they'll need supplies and laptops to keep learning along with their peers.
Did you know? The average youth in foster care experiences 3 home changes and loses up to 6 months of academic progress with each move. They are already facing an uphill academic battle; the last thing they should be worried about is making sure they have the correct school supplies.
Helping ensure foster youth have what they need to succeed in school allows them to enter the classroom with confidence knowing they won't need to borrow items or negatively stand out from their peers. Every pencil and dollar helps foster kids start the school year right!
