Over 400,000 children are in the U.S. foster care system at any given time. Foster kids enter the system not due to something they did, but due to their parents inability to care for them. Many of these innocent kids have suffered the effects of abuse, poverty, neglect, witnessed the effects of drug addiction or have lost their parents to death or incarceration. They often enter care with little or no belongings. Unfortunately, the foster care system only has funding to cover the most basic needs. This is where Ticket to Dream comes in.
Ticket to Dream is a California-based non-profit dedicated to creating hope and opportunity for foster children across the nation, so they can just be kids.
Ticket to Dream believes that hope starts with having shoes and clothing that fit, lifting their self-esteem. School supplies and access to computers so they have the tools they need to succeed in school.
Ticket to Dream wants to make sure that every foster-child gets to experience the joy of a gift under the tree, a trip to the zoo or joining a sports team.
Ticket to Dream works to ensure these youth receive the life skills and job training, education support, and access to housing services upon aging out that allows them to heal and grow to reach their full potential.
