Together We Can Empower Foster Youth for Their Future

Each year 20,000 foster youth will age out of foster care. Facing instant adulthood, thousands of foster youth must independently find housing, employment, feed and clothe themselves, with little to no support, often without a high school diploma, job experience, or a place to live.

With odds stacked against their success, Ticket to Dream's Take Flight program works with nonprofit partners and donors across the country to arm foster youth with support programs and resources that help them graduate, learn valuable life and job skills, obtain access to technology, have support systems, and access to safe housing.

This campaign, created by OnBuzz Media and Ticket to Dream for the award-winning movie Friday's Child, aims to shine a spotlight and inspire action to improve the futures of foster youth aging out of care.

Support for Ticket to Dream's Take Flight program will raise much needed funds for 4 key areas that statistically reduce homelessness, increase employment opportunities and decrease future incarceration, poverty and suicide rates. Simply we need to empower youth for success.

  • Housing: Youth need a safe place to land while they learn the ropes and set up future plans.
  • Education: Foster youth often need specialized support that overcomes multiple school placements, PTSD and other hurdles, while guiding them toward high school graduation, and college.
  • Technology Access: More than 70% of foster youth do not have access to a computer yet today's classrooms, colleges, social services and employers require it. With more laptops in the hands of high school foster youth you will see an increase in school attendance, graduation, college enrollment, employment and a decrease in depression rates.
  • Life/Job Skills Training: Youth need to learn how to make responsible choices very quickly and skills like job interviews, household budgets, cooking and more help them avoid pitfalls that can lead to disaster without a family to support you.

With your help we can grow, expand, and pour support into programs that impact futures. Every dollar helps.
